Well this is it, the final track on the final disc, and the ending for the entire 10th Anniversary Edition.
Initially I thought the editing for ‘Angel’ was going to be a similar nightmare to what happened with ‘Flaming June’ on the first disc, but in reality I actually had a solid 6 minutes to play around with meaning I only had to remove just over 2 minutes of the original track.
The editing began by tailoring the build up before the first breakdown at 1:52 to 64 bars, and then leaving the following 64 bars untouched.
The final 64 bars of the track was were most of the editing took place, as I wanted the outro to be a fitting tribute to the original album, so I trimmed the outro to flow over 64 bars, fading the final 32 bars out to silence.
The fading of the outro was a difficult choice to me as originally I wanted to leave the actual sound design of the track intact, but anyone who owns a copy of ‘Angel’ will know it does not have a fade out at the end, it just finishes abruptly, so I decided to use a fade out not only to give the impression of something slipping away into the background (a poignant touch I felt) but it was a strong nod to how the original Euphoria album ends.
