As mentioned earlier in another part of the blog, I wanted to keep the opening and closing tracks on each CD identical to the original Euphoria album, because I wanted to help ‘bookend’ the atmosphere of each disc and give a knowing wink to people who were already familiar with the album.
‘Looking For Love’ was the very first track on the original album, and because of this it has had rather iconic status in terms of the brand, it was the first and only time it featured on a Euphoria album and it is the first track in a currently – 52 album legacy.
From an audio editing point of view, I kept the track identical to the original, all I did was chop the latter half of the track off at 5:11. The main reason for doing this was because the arrangement worked perfectly in terms of how I wanted to introduce ‘Home’ by Chakra which is the following track.
The main reason I chose to introduce the vocal of ‘Home’ onto ‘Looking For Love’ is not only are both tracks in the same key, but the mix was my very first harmonic transition when learning how to mix in key and it was more of a nod to my youth as well as it sounding harmonically intriguing (the root note of ‘Home‘ flattens on occasion causing a rich discordant effect).
It is most noticable at 4:00 where the vocal of ‘Home’ comes in over the piano of ‘Looking For Love’.

Here is a screenshot of the arrangement of the track in Ableton (pretty pointless really considering it’s identical)
